About the Position:

The Launch Company is headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, and has employees and clients all over the U.S. This position can be remote with occasional travel to Anchorage.

Roles and Responsibilities

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Perform analysis on fluids systems for compressible, incompressible, and two-phase flow regimes.
  • Perform thermodynamic analysis of cryogenic liquid, gas, and two-phase systems.
  • Development of hardware on fluids skids and fittings.
  • Structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid analysis, and launch vehicle requirements.
  • Solidworks and NX CAD work on drawing and assemblies.
  • Design ground support equipment (GSE) systems to support client launch vehicle requirements and CONOPs.
  • Development of conceptual (30%), preliminary (60%), and critical (90%) design reviews to communicate design trades and path, both to client and internally.
  • Demonstrate ownership through all phases of design, analysis, material/component selection, and construction of tooling to support production, testing and launch operations.
  • Use fundamental engineering principles to develop novel solutions for hard technical challenges.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to seek creative, new and different ways to solve technical challenges.

SUGGESTED SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Level: Intermediate – Expert: 5+ years’ experience in industry.
  • Startup experience and/or aerospace experience preferred.
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering or greater (equivalent experience accepted).
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in the Mechanical / Aerospace engineering industry.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with NX, Solidworks CAD, CAM, Simulation, and Flow Simulation experience preferred. Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio is a plus.
  • Experience performing structural stress and/or thermofluidic analysis.
  • Must be curious, kind, and innovative person who thinks out of box and proposes bold new ideas.
  • Must be dynamic and self-motivated with ability to work both independently and with team members.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and based in the U.S.

Full-time position commensurate on experience. • Initial contract is over a 3-month trial period. After the 3 months, the option to convert full-time with The Launch Company, or extend and continue the contract, depending on employee performance
