Since 2009, Nanoracks has created and expanded new in-space markets and has been the world leader for ushering in a new era of in-space services. Currently, Nanoracks is working to build commercial space stations (“Outposts”) from the spent upper stages of launch vehicles in orbit. This technology will enable spent upper stages to be used as crewed and un-crewed space stations for various purposes and customers—both civil and commercial.

About the Position:

DreamUp, an affiliate of Nanoracks, is seeking a self-motivated and talented full-time Educational Program Specialist as we develop and roll out unique and impactful programs to bring the magic of space-based educational opportunities to a growing number of students around the globe. DreamUp is a public benefit corporation, which means we aim to bring good into the world (and the rest of the universe) while bringing value to our customers and shareholders. We provide space-based educational opportunities to learners of all ages and backgrounds and are the first company bringing space into the classroom and the classroom into space. DreamUp is uniquely positioned to engage learners nationwide with the most cutting-edge space research and developments and inspire them through scientific discoveries on the International Space Station. DreamUp offers in-space opportunities for student research by working in collaboration with Nanoracks.

Design educational content, curriculum, and professional development opportunities to support DreamUp’s educational products and programs:

  • Write STEM curricula for DreamUp’s various products, including coding programs utilizing Arduino (C++) and Raspberry Pi (Python) to teach space and concepts across STEM disciplines
  • Ensure alignment of DreamUp curricula, products, and programs to relevant local, national, and international educational standards
  • Design and manage DreamUp space education products and programs to enhance educational impact and support for educators

Support DreamUp’s educational customers and adapt products and programming in response to customer needs:

  • Adapt programs as needed based on outcomes measurement and educator feedback
  • Support customers with their day-to-day issues as they arise, in coordination with Nanoracks mission management
  • Ensure customer contracts are on-track and deliverables are met

Play an active role in a dynamic start-up:

  • Take on day-to-day responsibilities as new projects, opportunities, and problems emerge
  • Define measurable goals to determine success, grow programs, and improve outcomes
  • Plan events and manage day-to-day logistics of educational programs
  • Create content to promote DreamUp through its webpage, on social media, and at events

 

Required Traits, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • People-facing experience, passion for customer service and ability to provide exceptional customer experiences
  • 2-5 years of recent experience in STEM educational curriculum development and/or classroom teaching
  • Preference for a 4-year degree in Education, Business, Marketing, Communications, or related fields.
  • Project management familiarity
  • Proven ability to exhibit cultural competency
  • Stellar written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10%-30%)
  • Availability to work after hours and on weekends

 

Desirable Trails, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Basic experience with graphic design and web editing (i.e., utilizing WordPress)
  • Familiarity with Computer Science
  • Previous experience with and/or knowledge of aerospace
